Your 12 Week Guide: to Cycling

The book: Your 12 Week Guide to Cycling.
The thinking: Nobody likes to get unfit but it can creep up on all of us if we get caught up in our day-to-day responsibilities at the office and at home. Before we know it we are out of shape and looking for a way out.
The concept: To offer a gradual but steady cycling programme that guides the reader to a definable goal: from the armchair to a 25 km race in 12 weeks.
The structure: Following the opening section describing how to use the book there are 12 chapters, one for each week the reader needs to follow. Each week sets out a goal, a daily programme of exercise (and rest), plus tips on nutrition, sleep and mental fitness.
Words and pictures: Written by someone who loves his armchair but successfully completed the 109 km Cape-Argus cycle ride, the world’s biggest participative race. He started alongside Olympic decathlete Daley Thompson as part of Tour de France legend Miguel Indurain’s peloton. The weekly programme was devised by a triathlete who has completed an Ironman-distance race that included a 180 km cycle ride. Illustrated with colour photographs.
