Your 12 Week Guide: to Running

The book: Your 12 Week Guide to Running.
The thinking: It’s easy to get into a rut of working hard, picking up the children from school then slumping in front of the TV with a pizza exhausted. But most people are looking for a way out of the rut.
The concept: To offer a gradual but steady running programme that guides the reader to a definable goal: from the armchair to a 5 km race in 12 weeks.
The structure: Following the opening section describing how to use the book there are 12 chapters, one for each week the reader needs to follow. Each week sets out a goal, a daily programme of exercise (and rest), plus tips on nutrition, sleep and mental fitness.
Words and pictures: Written by someone who loves his armchair but has been to known to get out of it and completed a ultra-marathon two years after his first run (when he struggled to complete more than a couple of hundred metres). The weekly programme was devised by a personal trainer. Illustrated with colour photographs and some illustrations.
